I have just done a very odd thing. I finished dinner at 8-something, hung out with Marni and Indra for a while, and then decided to go for a walk because it had been kind of stormy and blustery all day and I hadn't gone out.
I left the house at 9:30 (of course it was still light out), and started to run just because it felt good. Ended up going to the north end of the Alster and back, which is maybe 3 km round-trip, and I RAN ALMOST THE WHOLE WAY.
After I had just eaten dinner. With a bit of a cold. And I didn't get a killer side cramp. Nor did my legs (or my lungs) give out.
I have absolutely no idea how I just did that. Was it because the weather was cool and I had no sun to make me wilt? Did all my walking in London boost my cardio and give me magical leg powers? I haven't got a clue . . .
On another note, it's almost 11 pm but everybody is screaming and going nuts in the houses all around me watching the Spain-Netherlands match. I looked out the window and the game is on in every single apartment. Squinting my eyes trying to figure out what's going on. I MUST get together with some of the other international students and watch at least one World Cup game while I'm here . . . the fanatic level is so much higher here than in the U.S. It's better than Super Bowl Sunday!
