Guys. I am so proud of myself.
I had a very uneventful day doing more homework (with breaks to go to the store, take a brief walk, blow my nose, and make tea to get rid of the horrible gravel that has temporarily taken up residence in my vocal cords). BUT for dinner, I had one egg in my fridge that I wanted to use up, so I decided to make crêpes.
And they were SUPER yummy!!!!

Feast your eyes!!! Aren't they beautiful? |
I was kind of guessing at the whole thing, since I've never done them before, but to my relief they came out awesome. They're not hard to make, but I have been known to sometimes epic-fail on my first try at cooking new things (the most ridiculous being a few years ago when I actually ruined brownies made from a boxed mix). So I was really glad they worked. I even made up an impromptu savory-butter sauce to go with them. The vegetables I had were buttergemüse, or "butter vegetables," which are boxed frozen veggies that come with a chunk of frozen butter that has seasoning in it. The seasoned butter is supposed to flavor the veggies when you cook them. I decided to take the chunk of butter and melt it in a separate pan with a little bit of milk and a dash of flour (I didn't have cornstarch) to make a sauce. It came together beautifully, and when each crêpe was cooked, I spooned some of the sauce onto it and added the vegetables on top, then folded it all together. I made two savory veggie crêpes and two plain ones, which I spread with jam. (I let Indra have part of one plain one and she put jam on hers too.) SO GOOD . . . especially the savory ones. I would SO make those again!
Super excited for tomorrow! Marni and I are planning to go to the Körperwelten (Body Worlds) exhibit that just opened here last month. We are going to draw as much as we can! I went to the exhibit in California back in the fall, and it was incredibly interesting and so helpful for my life drawing! I did some of my best sketches of the semester when I went to the one in California. So when I heard that an exhibit was opening in Hamburg, I told Marni we had to go to it. Tomorrow's the day! I can't wait!
On another note, I looked at my calendar and realized I only have SIX MORE WEEKS till I go back home to California! Where on earth did May go?? Where is June going?!?!??
okay so now that you are showing off your mad cooking skills you will be required to make yummy crepes for me when you get back!!
