Today I worked on my picture book, played my guitar a little bit, and then decided to take a walk. Just as I was putting my shoes on Marni buzzed at our door to ask if I wanted to walk in the Stadtpark, which was where I was planning on going, actually! Great minds think alike, as they say! So we had a really nice loop around the whole park, including a super nice stroll through the fully-in-bloom rose garden, and then sat by the lake watching the ducks, coots, and swans swim around while we ate chocolate-dipped fresh strawberries Marni had brought and tried to work on homework drawings. It was a really nice afternoon--every time it started to get too hot a big cloud would drift over, and then just when you were starting to feel cold the cloud would pass and the sun would come out again. Super lovely.
Here's a sneak peek at what my illustrations for my book are looking like. They're set up like a trompe l'oeil (that's an art term that means "trick the eye" in French) and they're like pictures-within-pictures. This drawing here doesn't have text yet, but the rest of it is finished. Fun, huh? I've always loved books with these kinds of pictures.
Just got finished with a two-and-a-half hour conversation on Skype with the family. We had soooo much to catch up on! It was great to talk to Dad for a couple minutes (especially since tomorrow is Father's Day!), and my sisters and I had so much fun telling each other about what we've been doing.
Time to sleep! Church tomorrow morning!
