Mellow today . . . I need to start traveling!

Today wasn't particularly eventful.  Spent a (frustrating) morning trying to book a trip to Amsterdam at the end of the month.  It takes a while to compare prices, find hostels and transportation, etc, especially when the hostel website won't take your new bank account card!  AAAHHH!

I did take a nice long walk down the canal to the Außenalster (big part of the lake).  Still beautiful weather . . . found I didn't need my sweater or scarf.  I walked south along the lakeshore path about halfway to downtown.  There were lots of people again today, but in the lakeside parks it's more families and older people.  The neighborhoods along the lake are definitely fancier and more expensive than the neighborhood I'm in.  Indra says we're technically on the edge of Winterhude, one of the nice neighborhoods, but it feels more industrial because of the train tracks, the Museum der Arbeit (Museum of Work), and all the plain brick apartments.  If you go a few blocks in either direction, you'll see a definite change both ways.

Anyway, had a nice time hanging out with Indra for a few hours after dinner.  She got to meet Mom and Joanna over Skype, which was fun.

Got to get to bed!  Berlin Weekend trip starts tomorrow afternoon!  Expect shorter blog posts because I won't have a computer, only a phone.  I'll try to keep the photos coming.  Hoping for enough time to visit both the Pergamonmuseum (which has the Ishtar Gate and Great Altar of Pergamon) and the Gemaldegalerie (which has lots of famous works)!
